Sometimes the NFL Draft does make sense.
The New York Giants, needing a receiver since cutting Plaxico Buress, took UNC receiver Hakeem Nicks with the 29th pick in the first round.
Nicks, UNC's career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, becomes the fifth ACC player taken in the first round. It's the second straight year UNC has produced a first-round pick (Kentwan Balmer).

Nicks the new
Mon, 04/27/2009 - 00:32 — jeromfitzAll-Pro Receiver in the NFL. Hakeem Nicks does it all and got them wondering how he's going catch the ball. One-arm. Behind the back. Tipping up while running all the way to the end zone. I'm glad to see he made to the Giants and hope things click off the start. I'm sure going to miss Plaxico Burress but Hakeem Nicks might make everyone forget about him. I think NY need to resign before training camp starts. They would be so explosive with offensive scoring threats.
I'm a state fan...
