FSU loses another starting lineman

Bookmark and Share

Florida State offensive lineman Evan Bellamy will miss the football season because of a blood clot in his left leg.

The sophomore was penciled to start at left guard. The Noles had already lost starting tackle Daron Rose for the season due to academics. That's not to mention the two other players who left the program in th spring and the seven starters who are suspended for the first three games because of a university-wide academic scandal.

The No. 1 reason FSU is no longer FSU is its offensive line. The Noles ranked 91st in rushing offense in 2007 — up from 103rd in 2006 — and hasn't averaged 4.0 yards per carry since 2004. Losing two starters from the unit won't reverse that trend.
