Listen to J.P. Giglio on WPTF-680 every Saturday at 1 p.m. on "The Big Tailgate Show" with Taylor Zarzour.
Boston College: The case of Veuve Clicquot, courtesy of the 1999 Duke team, is in the mail, Eagles.
UNCâs run at Dukeâs 19-0 ACC record didnât even reach 1-0 after the Eaglesâ trio of Tyrese Rice, Rakim Sanders and Reggie Jackson popped off for an 85-78 win at the Smith Center.
Stupid media, what were we thinking in picking BC to finish 11th in the ACC?
Pitt: A perennially underachieving Big East team in the NCAA Tournament, a coach who canât win the big one, an undersized and slightly stocky point guard, a smooth shooter and strong interior ... where have we seen this act this before?
From coach Jamie Dixon to Sam Young the shooter, to portly point guard Levance Fields â who admittedly is slimmer than Khalid El-Amin â Pitt looks an awful lot like UConn from 1999 (thereâs that year again).
Boston College: Grand opening, grand closing, as Jay-Z put it. Do you want an encore? Not the Eagles.
Boston College backed up its UNC upset with an 82-70 loss to Harvard. Britney Spears admires your consistency, BC.
After the game, Eagles AD Gene DeFilippo rescinded Tyrese Riceâs scholarship after the game for talking to the Crimsonâs players.
Indiana: The Hoosiers are 5-9 after the wreckage that was the 2007-08 season, which not only included the firing of coach Kelvin Sampson for NCAA recruiting violations but also was marred by rampant drug use, according to former one-and-done star Eric Gordon.
Stuck with a roster not even MacGyver could keep together with a paper clip and duct tape, first-year coach Tom Crean has lost back-to-back home games to Northeastern and Lipscomb and has been drubbed by Notre Dame (by 38) and Wake Forest (by 25).
On the financial side, Indianaâs phone bill will be considerably less without Sampson.
Mike Krzyzewski has been throwing darts since his victorious return from Olympic glory in China, and Foul Shots loves it.
Too many coaches, even accomplished ones, donât want to say anything even remotely interesting, even when asked directly. Not Coach K.
He told âspoiledâ Duke students, âIf somebody doesnât go to the Final Four during their four years at Duke, then thatâs too damn bad.â
He yanked tickets from the student section after it wasnât full for an exhibition game, and he even offered Michiganâs fan base lessons in attendance.
Then K put the âlocal pressâ on notice after Wednesdayâs win over Davidson, educating the media on Dukeâs national ranking. The Devils are No. 2, you know.
Whatâs next?
Only 32 days until the first Duke-UNC game. Keep your eye on the injury report.
Top 3: 1. UNC, 2. Duke, 3. Clemson
Still the Heels, even at 0-1.
Bottom 3: 10. Virginia, 11. N.C. State, 12. Georgia Tech
How many more miles can Paul Hewitt milk out of that â04 Final Four?

Well
Sat, 01/10/2009 - 19:40 â jpg (author)Nothing against Wake, I like Clemson. Have since the jump. Besides, Wake has ample opportunity tomorrow to prove me wrong.
And bonus points for you for connecting the state of Utah dots.

FS's ACC Top Three.
Sat, 01/10/2009 - 17:43 â jhmd2000I for one would like to congratulate Dook on their #2 ranking in the Foul Shots Poll.
I have a theory as to why Giglio leaves the Deacs out of his top three. Their biggest win was in the state of Utah, and Joe hates everything about Utah. I think someone should write him about it.
