Ford will attend Thursday's UNC game

Bookmark and Share

Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach Phil Ford will attend North Carolina's game against Evansville, when Tyler Hansbrough is expected to break his three-decades old scoring record, Ford told The Charlotte Observer on Monday evening.

Hansbrough needs nine points to set the new scoring mark; Ford scored 2,290 points from 1974-78.

Ford has said it's an honor to be compared to Hansbrough, a UNC senior forward.

I'm Glad Ford is going to

I'm Glad Ford is going to be there with Hansbrough to congratulate him on this Amazing accomplishment. I wish some other Carolina greats could be there as well. And I will also be at the game, and I'm looking forward to witnessing this amazing occasion in person.

you mean to tell me you went to ECU and root for UNC??  how dare you!  lol.  (ssshhhhh me too!)

Yep

I've been a UNC fan all my life, my Mom is from Chapel Hill, so I was pretty much born a Carolina Fan.  I did to school at ECU, But still have Loyalty to UNC in all sports.  Not just basketball.  With that being said, I pull for ECU and UNC, just not when they play each other.

I hear ya!

Holla at a Playa when you see him across the street!

Phil Ford...

...will always be my favorite player of all time. So far, he's also the best of all time. Yeah, sure there was Jordan, but he didn't stay all four years and Ford was the best player the heels ever had...until now perhaps.

Coach Ford, you'll always be number one in this fan's heart!

Welcome Home, Phil!!!

This was a given seeing as how Hansbrough didn't break Phil Ford's record the last UNC game. I think Roy Williams did the right thing by taking him out last game even though the record was easily attainable in that game. That was just a touch of class and some forward thinking.

Roy Williams will ensure...

that every former player will always be welcome back to Chapel Hill. Phil Ford is a Tar Heel icon, and this will be a very special night.
