Five games that don't matter

Bookmark and Share

• From Sunday's college football notes

Following up last week's "Five games that matter," here are five nonconference games that not only bear no consequence on the football season but are an affront to the people who have to pay money to watch them:

1. Georgia Southern at UNC (Oct. 10)

The Heels dumped Colorado for a second game with an FCS opponent, or what people who aren't paid by the NCAA call Division I-AA.

2. Jacksonville State at Florida State (Sept. 12)

FSU's one-time mantra "Anywhere, any time" has morphed into "Any I-AA team, any time."

3. Coastal Carolina at Clemson (Oct. 31)

The Chanticleers gave Penn State a run for its money, a 66-10 nail biter, last year.

4. Murray State at N.C. State (Sept. 12)

The Citadel connection makes sense, but the Racers? Give us Elon, Davidson, Winston-Salem State, Campbell or better yet, an Appalachian State rematch.

5. Jacksonville State at Georgia Tech (Sept. 5)

Progress. Paul Johnson only plays one I-AA team this year.

yawn

theres always an excuse for ncsu.

bottomfeeder

u are correct for once. go duke!!!!!!!!

None needed

Fortunately, we don't need to make excuses for anything.

And who is making excuses? I didn't see any in this article.

While we're on the subject of games that don't matter, wasn't it CAROLINA that dropped Colorado or something? And that's why they ended up with another D-II opponent?

bradley

I was talking about Ronney.  not the article.  all ncsu fans ever do (with exception to jpdohio) is make excuses about why something did or did not happen,

NC State's Murray State Game

If I am not mistaken the Murray State game is a result of ECU wanting to move the scheduled game this year to another year leaving us with a game to fill. I am not happy about the Murray State game but when you have a last minute cancelation you take what you can get!
