ATLANTA — Courtney Fells watched all but 10 minutes of Wednesday's public practice by N.C. State from the bench with an icepack on his thigh.
Don't worry, State Fan, Fells will play on Thursday against Maryland. State practiced earlier on Wednesday, at Morehouse College, for two hours and Fells was fine.
Fells injured his groin in the first half of N.C. State's win over Boston College on March 4, then missed sat out Saturday's finale at Miami.
"We talked about it and decided it would be best to sit and rest and get ready for this," Fells said.
Fells said he suffered the injury with five minutes left in the first half of the BC game — his final home game — when he got tangled with BC's Corey Raji.
"He stepped on my foot and then it just kind pulled," Fells said.
Fells had 11 points in the first half before missing the final 20 minutes.
"It was an awful feeling," Fells said, "but luckily my teammates picked me up."
Fells was looking forward to another shot at Maryland's Greivis Vasquez, after the Terps' point guard scored 33 points in Raleigh.
"I want to redeem myself and help our team win," he said.
