ESPN's 'Mike & Mike': Roy on Ty

Bookmark and Share

On ESPN's "Mike & Mike In The Morning," North Carolina coach Roy Williams assessed point guard Ty Lawson injured toe and how his recovery has gone since the Tar Heels' advanced to a third-round NCAA Tournament game against Gonzaga on Friday:

"It hasn't gone really well, but yet it hasn't scared us," Williams said. "He did not have much swelling after the game [Saturday vs. LSU]. Sunday we gave everybody the day of. Monday we came in and just did some shooting. Yesterday we had a practice, and he did not practice, so we're really trying to be careful. Yet, as a coach, it scares you a little bit: 'OK, he needs some work. He needs some stamina work. He needs to go up and down.' So it's a little frustrating, and you're always a little anxious: Does he need one more possession or do you need to get him out now? But we're going to try to get him more involved in practice today and hopefully more in practice tomorrow, and if he can do those, we'll feel good about going on Friday."
