The Duke women’s basketball team will host Stanford during the upcoming 2008-2009 season, a Blue Devils athletic department spokesman said Wednesday.

The non-conference game is scheduled for Dec. 16 and will be nationally televised on ESPN. It’s the third game ever scheduled between these two powerhouse programs, with the teams last meeting in 1998 in San Jose, Calif. While the Blue Devils won that game, 77-57, the teams have split the two previous meetings.

The Devils host the Cardinal at Cameron Indoor Stadium for the second time. They first hosted the Cardinal in 1988 and Stanford, ranked sixth in the nation, won 91-76. Both teams were ranked in the Associated Press top 25 poll at the end of last season.
