CBS Sports announced this morning that it will broadcast the next Duke at North Carolina basketball game in prime time on Saturday, March 5, 2011.
The 8 p.m. tip-off for the game will mark the first prime-time broadcast of the rivalry on network television, according to the news release.
Mike Aresco, executive vice president of programming for CBS Sports issued a statement declaring that the primetime telecast will generate "enormous interest across the nation" leading into the network's coverage of the 2011 NCAA tournament.
"It is an honor for the Duke-North Carolina game to be placed on this stage — for us, the ACC and for college basketball," Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement released by Duke. "Hopefully the game will live up to that level of expectation."

No matter what
Wed, 06/30/2010 - 11:34 — Heels20People will always tune in to this rivalry. Everyone will always watch no matter how bad of a season one of the teams is having. You can also throw stats and records out the window for this one. Remember the game in the Dean Dome this past season, as these teams were dead even with about four and a half minutes to go. With emerging stars such as Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving, John Henson and Nolan Smith, I imagine that this game in particular could be very special.
What goes around ......

"Had DOOK not scored a SINGLE point in the 2nd half...they would still have won by 3"
That one sent Roy into the ACC Hall of Shame..... and ultimately.... through the outhouse hole...plop plop ....
Whatever moron. I'm sure K
Tue, 06/29/2010 - 16:16 — mauldo1Whatever moron. I'm sure K was doing alot of laughing when Hansbrough was winning four in a row in his own backyard. You guys have short memories. dook gets lucky and backs into a title by beating a bunch of nobodies and mid-majors, and now all of a sudden dookies are everywhere shooting off their mouths. I hope dook crashes and burns harder this year than they did in 2002.
Between the lines
Tue, 06/29/2010 - 15:48 — weslorocksWhen Coach K says "hopefully the game will live up to that level of expectation" what he really means is "hopefully the tarholes will at least put a team on the floor that can keep it within 15 points because if we lay another 32 point beat down on those clowns CBS is gonna be pissed."
westcock!!!
Tue, 07/06/2010 - 20:26 — bluecat69bluecat69u are right on the money, and this year the duke-champs will beat the tar-holes by at least 40pts, unless coach k calls off the dogs, i mean devils, ok go duke -champs!!!!
What in the world will ESPN
Tue, 06/29/2010 - 13:26 — ginoboliWhat in the world will ESPN do for programming while it is on CBS? I guess they can have two channels devoted to each bench, and an overhead view on ESPN-U and a bottom of the floor view on ESPN-ocho. Sickening actually.
