Duke's ACC tournament title on Sunday got the Blue Devils the No. 1 seed in the South Regional of the NCAA tournament.
Duke (28-5) tied for the ACC's regular-season title and won the tournament to edge Big East champion West Virginia and Big Ten champion Ohio State for one of the four No. 1 seeds.
Kansas, No. 1 overall in the field of 65, Kentucky and Syracuse are the other No. 1 regional seeds.

Duke
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 23:29 — LetsGoPittThe Blue Devils have such a cake walk. Other than Rick Pitino, this is such a weak bracket. Kansas got screwed: supposed to be overall #1 but their bracket is loaded! You have Tom Izzo, Gary Williams and Paul Hewitt: all been to the final four. Then you have Georgetown and Ohio State. No one in South comparable other than 'Nova.
WVU should have been #1 and Duke #2 anyway.
WVU
Tue, 03/16/2010 - 09:30 — duke_blueI think WV is better off being #2 in the East. They are pretty much in their back yard (NY) all the way thru the elite 8. Instead of Florida and then Texas. If they were #1 in the South, then they possibly would have to face Louisville. Which WV beat them this season, but it was only by 3 and at WV. And if my stats are correct, Louisville is 8-2 against WV since they moved to the Big East. Also, they possibly would have to face Purdue, which beat WV this season. I believe they have a better chance making it to the elite 8 than they would have had. Now I could be totally way off base here as I am not a basketball analyst, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
pitts!!

Stop the presses!
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 23:52 — Heels20Stop the presses! LetsGoPitt does not include Dook on his long list of favorite teams! Haha, just messing with ya.
I do agree with you. Filling out my bracket, it was hard to keep Dook out of the Final Four. Of course, I naturally found a way to do so. I don't understand how Kansas got all of those teams in its bracket, but I'm not sure exactly how the selection committees decide this stuff. After all, VT didn't make the tournament when they definitely deserved it.
Any way, congrats to the Devils on the tournament championships. I love to hate your team, but unfortunately, your team loves to piss me off. Either way, Dook has to stay up for the rivalry to be fun. No one is interested in a powerless villain. This is the same reason why I would love to see State back up.
That being said, I would wish the Devils luck in the tournament, but I honestly would love to see them lose in the first round. Like my comments or not, they're genuine. In all seriousness, let the moment soak in and enjoy it while you can. We Tar Heels are currently learning the hard way on why success should never be taken for granted.
Tourney
Wed, 03/17/2010 - 00:23 — LetsGoPittIf all y'all are still reading posts here, just wanted to let you know I posted my tourney comments under the article "Does Duke have it Easy?"
It's a yes/no kind of thing, depends on what you want to use as your criteria. Duke playing Baylor in Houston? Not easy. Kentucky? They have 8 power-six conference teams in under them.
I still say Kansas has toughest road because of Izzo, Williams, Matta, etc: all those coaches and teams with final four experience.
Two things
Mon, 03/15/2010 - 08:46 — JPDOhioI think you will be happy you found a way to keep Duke out of your final four. This tournament could very well be like the ACC tournament where higher seeded teams get knocked off regularly. I also expect at least one #1 seed to be upset before the Final Four. Because I consider Duke to be the weakest of the #1 seeds, there is a pretty good chance in my mind that they will be one of them.
Regarding Va Tech, I agree they should be in the tournament, probably ahead of Wake who is destined for a first round flame-out, IMHO. That said, the Hokies constantly put themselves in a position to allow the Tournament Committee to vote them out. If they win at least one game in the ACC tourney, they are probably in. If they do what Ga Tech did, they are definitely in. In fact, my guess is that Ga Tech took their spot. So I have only a little bit of sympathy for Seth and his boys.
Pitino
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 19:40 — gjaluvkayeah I think it's a mixed bag for Duke - Purdue is really a weak #4 but there are two Big East teams, and Duke hasn't had much luck with the really aggressive teams from that conference, which those two are.
Help me out here
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 19:39 — gjaluvkaHow can the #1 overall seed NOT be playing the playin game winner? Doesn't that, by definition, involve the two worst-seeded teams?
Geography/scheduling
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 20:07 — wolfpacker24It has more to do with matching the winner of that game up with a #1 playing on Friday/Sunday than matching them up with the #1 overall seed.
well
Sun, 03/14/2010 - 18:00 — gvillegatrthis is not the first time VT has not made the Tourney b/c they played such a poor non conference.
I'll have the Dookies getting Pitino bit in the 2nd round like always.
Oh, dear
