WINSTON-SALEM - Riley Skinner threw three touchdown passes – two to wideout Marshall Williams – as Wake Forest edged N.C. State 30-24 on Saturday at BB&T Field.
Wake Forest cornerback Kenny Okoro intercepted N.C. State’s Russell Wilson in the end zone with 2:02 remaining to preserve the lead.
N.C. State had a chance to get the ball back, but running back Josh Adams broke four tackle attempts on third down before to get the Deacons a new set of down and allow Wake Forest to run out the clock.
Skinner finished the day 31-for-45 for 361 yards and three touchdowns with a pair of interceptions.
The teams combined for five turnovers in a sloppy first half that ended with Wake Forest ahead 13-10. N.C. State committed seven penalties for 80 yards in the first half, including personal fouls on Natanu Mageo and J.R. Sweezy that led to a Deacons’ go-ahead field goal with 16 seconds remaining in the half.
Wake Forest stretched that lead to 20-10 on an 11-yard pass from Skinner to Williams.
Wilson’s Football Bowl Subdivision-record streak of passes without an interception ended at 379 in the second quarter. Cornerback Josh Bush intercepted Wilson when he threw deep into double coverage with the Wolfpack facing first-and-35.
Wilson hadn’t been intercepted since a game at Clemson on Sept. 13, 2008. He was 20-for-43 for 275 yards with two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown, but threw two interceptions.
With three touchdown passes, Skinner broke the Wake Forest school record of 45 career scoring passes.
The Deacons improved to 3-2, 1-1 in the ACC. N.C. State (3-2) lost its ACC opener.

ads in blogs ...

is any one else getting these repetative advertising posts? - in this article it is from something suppsedly called "ed hardy". it also appeared in a previous blog. wtf? and make it stop. there is no room for fashion in these blogs ... unless it is to convince NCSU to bag those proposed BBall jerseys, which they did

N&R

It is Ed Hardin from the News and Record in GSO.

hey Max

how did Miami fare last evening against Oklahoma? (no where else to post this in ACCNow. just change the name to UNCNCSUNow)

Not sure if you are

Not sure if you are seriously asking, or if this is supposed to be some kind of smug comment about Miami and your predictions, so I'll just assume the first...

I actually picked Miami to win this one in my college pick 'em, because they were at home and Oklahoma still doesn't have Sam Bradford.  Harris looked pretty bad early on, but he was able to put it together and come back to lead Miami to a big win.  Should move them up quite a bit in the polls (I haven't checked yet) but unfortunately for them, it has nothing to do with their conference record.  They're looking pretty good for the rest of the year, but they do still have to play Clemson, at Wake, and at USF, all of which should put up a fight.  Also, if VT keeps winning, Miami won't be going to Tampa regardless of what they do.

yes

of course I was being smug.  I had every right to be smug considering you copied and pasted that I said they were going to save the ACC or whatever ... they lose one game to VT and you basically say I am FOS.

for some reason you think the sky is falling when you see only one example of a negative ... except when it comes to the pack.

Reading comprehension skills

Seriously gatr, I posted your quote because you said "nobody is gonna stop the Canes this year".  Then they lost decisively the very next week.  I just thought it was funny that you thought they were unstoppable and then they got beat down.  Plus, Miami will have to win out and VT will have to lose twice for Miami to even go to the ACC championship game.

It doesn't matter how many games Miami wins now...you said nobody would stop them, and then they were stopped.  Case closed.

I don't think the sky is falling for any team in the ACC right now...there's way too much parody to think that.  Heck, even though some UNC fans are questioning whether UNC will win again, I'm confident they will win at least 2 more games.  In fact, I've already posted a comment on the UNC game thread that will back that up.  Sheesh, if you're gonna take it so badly, I won't quote your comments anymore.  I do enjoy reading a lot of your posts, but that one was just asking to be re-posted, with the perfect timing and whatnot.  It wasn't intended to be such a personal attack on you and your knowledge of college football, but what's the point in making such bold statements, if we can't go back and see if they hold up?

i know

I still belive Miami is the best team in the ACC.  they got caught in a terrible situation that was rain and lots of it.  toss in a game inside Lane Stadium and you have a recipe for disaster for a prodominatly passing team.

Landry is a way better passing QB than Tyrod.  Some would argue OU has a better defense given their athletes.  venues play a big role in college football.  no matter, though.   it is what it is.

I apologize for the whole copy and paste thing.  you have the right to do what you want whether I like it or not.

Sloppy

Wake's a decent team, but State sure helped the Deacons out by all the DUMB penalties. JR Sweezy needs to run for a while on Monday for that one personal foul. What the hell was the moron thinking? Oh, that's right, he wasn't.

Also. State gave up on the run way too early. Oh well. Unfortunately, there's a litany of things that State did incredibly wrong during yesterday's game.

Gotta hope they fix it before next Saturday. Duke played with VT. The Pack better watch out.

Yep, got to get ready for next week

I missed the middle part of the game, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. Too many penalties, too many missed tackles. And Russell Wilson turns out to be human after all.

Still, with the parity in the ACC, the Pack has a lot of football to play and the problems are correctable. The sooner they can correct them and play smart, focused football, the better the season will end up.

Tough game for the Pack, but

Tough game for the Pack, but all is not lost. As tjfoose said, State just had too many mistakes to win this game. It was like the game last week against Pitt, except Wilson made a bad throw at the end this time around. Like TOB was saying all week, if we play like this, we are gonna get beat.

Bad news:
State is 0-1 in conference play
RW's interception-free streak is over
State cannot be crowned "state champions" this year

Good news:
the Atlantic division is wide open again this year and State still controls their own destiny
RW's interception-free streak is over (no more distractions of the count on every single throw)
State already has 3 wins after starting 2-5 and 2-6 in TOB's first two years

Tough one. Too many

Tough one. Too many mistakes against a good team. Kudos to Wake.

Most thought 8-4 was realistic best record for 'Pack. That's looking spot on. 'Pack still a year or two away from hitting their window.

Keep working Wolfpack, gotta keep getting better.

Maryland over Clemson? BC over FSU? UVA over Heels? ... Wow, crazy weekend. Maryland is in first place in the Atlantic.
