DURHAM — No matter how busy he gets, David Cutcliffe believes in making time for family.
So Friday morning, the Duke football coach fielded a few quick questions after practice, then hustled away to celebrate a daughter’s birthday.
Before leaving, he said he was both pleased and displeased with the Blue Devils’ first workout in full pads.
“I was pleased, particuarly at the beginning of practice,’’ he said. “It was by far far, the most physical.“I was most displeased about consistency. That’s the biggest concern with this football team — how we played well at times and then let it go. At times, it was an effort [issue].”
He added that the Blue Devils are physically fit enough, but wants to see high-level intensity sustained over a 2 1/2 hour workout.
Asked about the placekicking, Duke's chief question mark, Cutcliffe said he hasn't found the answer yet.
