Duke football has boasted a dangerous scoring combination since last season but winning is shining a brighter spotlight on QB Thaddeus Lewis and WR Eron Riley.
The duo hooked up for a 15th, 16th, and 17th time in their careers in the Blue Devils' 41-31 win over Navy at Wallace Wade Stadium on Saturday. Here's a behind-the-numbers look at the best scoring combo in Duke football history:
3 — Number of TD passes from Lewis to Riley against Navy on Saturday.
7 — Out of 17 total in their careers, the number of Lewis-to-Riley scoring hookups that came at the Midshipmen's expense.
9 — Number of times, in 27 career games, Lewis has thrown at least two TD passes in a game.
11 — Out of 17 total, the number of Lewis-to-Riley scoring hookups that covered 20 or more yards.
19 — Number of TD receptions for Riley in his career, which ranks fourth all-time at Duke. Riley, a senior, needs three more to pass Cedric Jones (21) and seven more to pass Corey Thomas (25). Clarkston Hines holds Duke's career receiving TD record with 38.
26 — Number of consecutive starts Lewis and Riley have made together.
37 — Number of career touchdowns for Lewis, which ranks fifth all-time. Lewis, a junior, needs five more to overtake Dave Brown. Ben Bennett holds the all-time record with 55.
100 — Number of career receptions for Riley, the 12th Duke player to reach that mark.
206 — Number of consecutive completions Lewis has thrown without an interception. That dates back to last season's Nov. 3 game against Clemson.
