Bryant off UNC team

Bookmark and Share

Sophomore Kevin Bryant is no longer with the North Carolina football program, team spokesman Kevin Best said Wednesday.

Bryant, a backup offensive lineman from Hollywood, Fla., failed to report to practice when it began on Aug. 7 and missed the first six days of training camp.

According to Durham court records, Bryant was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female on July 1. He has a court date set for Aug. 26.

This is the second legal charge in as many days to surface in connection with UNC's football team. Freshman Donte Paige-Moss was charged with misdemeanor simple assault by UNC Public Safety for punching teammate Hunter Furr in a dorm-room fight on July 17.

UNC coach Butch Davis could not be reached for comment.

At 6-7, 350 pounds, Bryant was the biggest player listed UNC's roster. He appeared in seven games in 2008 as a reserve lineman. He was listed on the preseason depth chart as the second-team right guard.

His departure thins an offensive line that was already missing Aaron Stahl, an expected starter at guard who left the program after graduating in May.

We shouldn't be surprised

We shouldn't be surprised that a unx fan would cite the female victim for blame. unx fball players,historically-speaking,fare very poorly in physical confrontations with women...

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Authorities have charged two women and a man with a weekend attack on three North Carolina football players, which police said was likely motivated by robbery but included the sexual assault of at least two players.
Authorities charged Monique Jenice Taylor, 28, of Greenville, Tnika Monta Washington, 29, and Michael Troy Lewis, 32, both of Durham, with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and one count of resisting arrest.

typical unc thugs

the lowest human form on earth is a fb player that will punch, beat up, and maul a poor defenless girl, unc should really be proud, even a ncs player would not behave in this manner, oh heels 20 said the unc bb program was the exceptional program today and all other programs should try to be like them, wonder what he thinks about this mess , go duke!!!!!!!!!!

"That's my hometown, and

"That's my hometown, and believe me...there are a lot of females there that aren't ladies."

Blaming the victim. Classy.

"To take this and label an entire program is a stretch, to say the least."

Judging by that list of unc athletes who have run afoul of the law, this isn't an isolated incident. Quite the opposite,in fact.

the only writing bryant saw

was on the arrest report to appear in court in durham on august 26th. for beating up a girl. typical carolina thugism at its finest. at least moss hits guys.

oh please. every program has

oh please. every program has young men who get into trouble, it is the nature of youth. Shall I point out the Duke, State and ECU kids who have gotten into legal snafus too?

please do

i would love to compare any of those schools with unx's transgressions in this public, open forum.

heck, moss and bryant this summer alone.  what happened did mark paschal become a graduate assistant there?

ouch

*chirp*

That's the sound of any unc fan thinking about defending their thug school.

oh please, it happens

oh please, it happens everywhere. grow up.

Things happen..

Bryant may seen writing on a wall, or he may have just decided to quit. Either way it is what it is. As a UNC alumnus, I'm not proud to hear of legal troubles with any of the school's athletic programs. with young men in any walk of life setbacks happen. I hope it's the last for this or any team.

The assault was in Durham?

That's my hometown, and believe me...there are a lot of females there that aren't ladies. I do not agree with his actions, and hope he learns from the consequences. To take this and label an entire program is a stretch, to say the least.

Wow!

Wow! Worst...excuse...ever.

"Durham: Our Women Will Kick Your Ass If You're Not Careful."

Great defense

"she deserved it"

"Assaulting a female?"

"Assaulting a female?"   Whew!  For a minute there,I thought poor Kevin was yet another player to fall victim to Butch's bogus "career-ending medical hardship" purge.

could have been, roy

its hard for injured wrists to heal when you're punching out women with it.
