ACC Now

Bowl shuffling continues

Bookmark and Share

The Independence Bowl will be the second newcomer to the ACC bowl lineup in 2010.

The conference's affiliation with the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco will be replaced by a new deal with the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La. The ACC parted ways with the Gator Bowl earlier in the week. In August, the ACC announced a deal with the Sun Bowl, which effectively replaces the Gator.

The Independence Bowl will pit the seventh ACC selection against a Mountain West Conference opponent, according to the Shreveport Times.

All tie-in changes take effect for the 2010 season.

The ACC's bowl lineup (projected 2010 order):

1. Bowl Championship Series Bowl Championship Series
2. Chick-fil-A Atlanta Chick-fil-A Atlanta

I blame BC

Their pathetic fan base is the reason we have the one win rule. Lets kick them out and get someone else. Maybe WVU.

it has as much to do ...

with Wake Forest as it does BC.  If DUIke was relevant, they'd be thrown in the mix as well.  GT can be blamed as well.

we simply have too many small, private schools in the conference.

I still cant believe Swofford and Co. dropped the ball on the Gator Bowl.

joke

what a bunch of sh*t bag bowl games the ACC schools has to look forward to after this year!

"congrats on finishing 4th out of 12 teams. you get to go to El Paso, TX. please, everyone, stick together in a group or you may get "accidently" deported across the border."

here ya go

we're the ACC.  we can effectively tell any conference we're affiliated with what to do b/c we are that good! (yea, right)

lets tell the Gator Bowl (3rd best team) we're not playing by their rules by essentially letting them bring in a lesser ACC team who will travel and fill seats.  nope, see ya later Gator.

moving forward a day.

now we go sign up with the big, bad Independence Bowl to replace the iddy, biddy Gator Bowl.

The ACC, to put it it lamens terms,  left a lot of money on the table just so they would feel better about themselves.

I told ya'll yesterday this was coming.

what a joke we are becoming faster than we want to ...
