Bobby Frasor, Jackie Manuel join North Carolina basketball staff

Bookmark and Share

Bobby Frasor and Jackie Manuel both were part of national championship teams during their years at North Carolina. Now they’ll be helping the Tar Heels in a different capacity.

Frasor and Manuel, both former Carolina guards, have joined the UNC basketball staff, the university announced on Friday. Frasor, a member of North Carolina’s 2009 national championship team, will serve as the Tar Heels’ assistant video coordinator. Manuel, a member of the Heels’ 2005 title team, will be the team’s assistant strength and conditioning coordinator.

Both of the jobs are temporary and will last six months, ending May 15, 2012.

“These are two outstanding young men who have decided to end their competitive playing careers and are looking to get into basketball from a non-playing perspective,” UNC coach Roy Williams said in a statement. “I think this will be a great opportunity for them to focus on what it takes to run a program.

“They’ll set good examples for our current players because they know what it takes to win at a high level.”

Is there any subject

that the UNC haters can't from Raleigh can't hate on?  You barely blink when CJ Leslie does EXACTLY what the UNC football players did.  SAME RULE, SAME CRIME!!  You even have the nerve to call it "self reporting" when he admitted he didn't pay to drive the car he wrecked well AFTER he wrecked it.  I am sure he would have done so even if he didn't have the wreck though;-)

BTW: Congrats to the Pack for a good start to hopefully a new BB era!  We need you to be relavent again in the BB world and actually want you and Wake to be good and help to restore Tobacco Road!!  GO HEELS!!

How About UCLA?

Any job-ops out there??  That would be a really good opportunity to set an example for UNC players - showing them the help needed by some former players (Drew Two and the Wear twins).  A couple of more transfers and we will in fact have a UNC-LA starting line-up.

congratulation

congratulations to both of these young men---no matter what these jealous old goats up here say.

Frasor and Manuel NEEDED JOBS

If you do a little googling, you will find that Frasor's overseas career took a hit....especially when the NOW unemployed NBA players started fanning out across the globe to ply their trade.  Manuel was on the NBDL staff, but since there is no DEVELOPMENT of players this year, that position will not provide income.

I also suspect that NCSU is STILL paying Coach Lowe, maybe even more, if his Assistant Job has not come to fruition due to the player's strike.

Can't really fuss at Old Roy.  He needed to help out some of his ex-players who have fallen onto hard or potentially hard financial times.  They probably will be of value to him and help out this year.

Obviously, they are still following their athletic side of being a student athlete, rather than their "student" side.

frasor

Bobby Frasor's overseas bball team went belly up and he never got paid.  That's what got him out of "3rd World BBall."

How's that illustrious UNC

How's that illustrious UNC sheepskin workin' for ya, guys ? Wow...

True: NC State has won five

True: NC State has won five in a row in football, is not under investigation for football (possibly for basketball), has "great tailgating", and has an amazing engineering program that apparently every athlete majors in. While all of America knows UNC is under investigation because of the football program--and I will accept whatever penalty is handed down---all of America also knows UNC is a better school, except for the dilusional portion of State's fan base.

HOWS THAT........

Still workin' on State's Chris Washburn legacy, huh.

Prowling Troll

Considering they both want to get into coaching/athletics as a profession, I'd say it's working out pretty well.

As an AV guy and an

As an AV guy - ASSISTANT AV guy - and an assistant weight trainer... talk about making up somewhere to shoe-horn them !

Foot in the door

Just look where Coach Williams started, that worked out pretty good, huh?

It's called

It's called loyalty--------Wouldn't expect a woofie to understand.
