Blocked shots and Brown's best key win over Stanford

Bookmark and Share

N.C. State blocked a season-best 11 shots in Tuesday's 88-79 win over Stanford and has blocked 25 shots in the past three games.

Scott Wood, 7-footer Jordan Vandenberg, C.J. Leslie and T.J. Warren tied for the team lead with two blocks.

"I'm a blocked shot machine, dude, don't bring it in my house," Wood joked after the game.

— Stanford finished the game with six free throws and two in the second half. The Cardinal had 34 last year, despite trailing for most of the second half. The difference? An ACC crew called the game last year in California and a Pac-12 crew called Tuesday's game.

Or, as Lorenzo Brown theorized: "I guess Richard (Howell) didn't foul them as much."

— Brown equaled his career-high with 24 points. He had three 20-point games last year, including 24 against Campbell, and now has five in his career.

"That's the best game he has had this year," N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried said of the junior point guard.

Dawkins' dilema ...

After Wood's first half 5-3s, I could sense that Dawkin's would be passing out the "wood glue" at half-time ... and he did.

Lo Brown was "Uptown" ... gotta love him!

Howell was the man!

Great game. Great Refs!

A quality win;

Nice job Pack; could have been a bigger margin however; we had our foot on their throat and let them come back.  Seems quite often we get a nice lead and then start to play sloppy--poor defense, TO's, etc.

Brown was terrific and Howell continues to play "beastly".  Didn't get much out of the Freshmen last night, although it was nice to see Tyler Lewis come in an score a few points---don't know why Warren didn't get the minutes.   I thought Stanford played pretty good "D" against Leslie--- had him bottled up much of the game and forced him into several TO's; he really earned the points he got and did get to the line.

The pack shot 56.1%; they left some points, once again, at the foul line but did shoot 70.4%; room for improvement there and with the TO's.  Hopefully we can finish this home stand out with a nice winning streak.

..Hmm....an ACC crew last

..Hmm....an ACC crew last year??..makes sense...Jamie Luckie and crew....no wonder so many fouls were called....whistle happy refs...
