The Wear twins transfer from UNC means 31 basketball players who have enrolled since 2000 have left the Big Four.
The Wears bring UNC's total to six, four less than Wake Forest. There are few regrets on the list, notably Duke's Elliot Williams, but mostly forgettable players (see: UNC's Adam Boone, N.C. State's Justin Flatt and Wake's Dshamal Schoetz).
Bottom line, barring an unexpected leap of improvement in their games — and health in the case of David's hip — the Wears will be old news by the start of the 2010-11 season.
The success of UNC's season is predicated on how good Harrison Barnes really is (and to a lesser extent Reggie Bullock). That doesn't change with the absence of two backup forwards. Boston College will miss Rakim Sanders a world more than UNC will miss both Wears combined.
