Beasley off N.C. State team

Bookmark and Share

Reserve linebacker William Beasley no longer is a member of N.C. State's football team, coach Tom O'Brien said today.

Beasley, a sophomore from Milton, Fla., played four snaps against Western Carolina on Sept. 4 in the only appearance of his career with the Wolfpack.

"He didn't uphold his being a champion in the classroom or the community part, so he can't get on the football field," O'Brien said.

Beasley redshirted in 2008 and did not play in 2009.

Proud Wolfpack Alum

Wooten 78…let me address you if I may.  I need more than one hand to count the times I have been proud of NCSU, because despite sitting in the backyard of pretentious Duke and arrogant UNC, we have quietly held our own.  You are correct; Bama, USC, and Georgia are all football schools and thus have had it easy in the football investigation.  I wonder who would fare better in a Basketball investigation….UNC or the previously mentioned schools.  As far as “pretending” or “what ifs” for Russell Wilson, well guess we don’t have to worry because the young man is a class act all around.  Maybe you and your fellow “quality” alumni should educate your players about the pitfalls of posting stuff to public forums….and please don’t pretend this is the first violation by athletes at your precious school….this is just the first time it’s been pushed because of the ignorance of your so called superstars.  As far as it being an “academic” investigation pushed for by academia, please explain why the athletic director informed your entire group of esteemed educators and only 2 questions were asked…to which both were given a “no comment”? Yes we have had some shameful athletes who did not pride themselves in being part of the Wolfpack nation.  We have had too many down years in both football and basketball.  But the fact remains that you never see those stands without RED in them.  You never have to ask Wolfpack fans to show up for a game, and YOU NEVER see us hide our pride.  I think we should, as fans, focus more on the Russell Wilson’s and Zack Pianalto’s…..class acts for both schools, and stop focusing on the Beasley’s and Austin’s who did not deserve to set foot on either ACC campus if they were going to be so frivolous with the opportunities they were given! GO PACK

My 2 cents on one subject

USC, Alabama and Georgia have had it light in comparison to UNC bc those schools didn't bother investigating any issue other than the one on the surface with the exception to USC but that was for living quarters. Whoa!

I'd go as far to say they probably didn't do that thorough of a job on the surface. Alabama gets in trouble every five years it seems like. One would think the NCAA would ambush T-Town and do their own investigating.

I also feel UNC should get what they deserve.

to the carolina fans

bunch of hypocrites.

This was a story about an NCState player and it had two troll responses almost immediately from Carolina fans.  You not respond to us?  We all know who shouldn't be responding to who and wasting of one's time.

jblues

is an anti UNC fan.  he was being serious.

I'll confess, i'm the only poster here at ACCNow who has ever trolled in another teams thread.  No one else has ever done it before.  Especially you, jizzycream.

more hypocrisy

i'm not the one who makes proclamations like: "why are wusspeckers trolling in our threads???"

your fanbase is the one who started this nonsense.  I don't care who trolls where or what they do, you'll get put in your place soon enough as always.

Wusspeckers

That's a new one to me.

But of course you are not going to make a proclomation about pack fans trolling. You are a pack fan. HELLO!

What you did do wad call out unc fans for trolling.

Round and round. You and yar8 ... I wince that our paths could have crossed.

YAR8 AND GATR

Reminds me of every action movie I have ever seen where the hero and villain battle to the death at the end and, just before the villain dies, he says, "It's too bad. In a different life, we could have been friends".

No value judgement on who the villain is here.  :-D

real beacon of institutional control

kicking a guy off your team who doesn't even get on the field of play.  guys like this get kicked off of teams all the time.  hollow.  it would be like trying to stick up a 7/11 with a water pistol.

lets see the blog where TOB kicked the dope smokers off the team who actually contributed to the minor success on the field and then you can show us "institutional control."

they sat for a game

You Dolt.  Quan Sturdivant has yet to sit, i assume because his services are needed, seeing as how so many other STUDENT-athletes failed to live up.

helllo

like I didn't see the, "they sat out for one game" coming!  Why didn't you go into more detail about the particular team the Pups played?

They could have suited me up against Western Carolina and still would have won the ball game.

don't pretend for one second these guys felt bad about not playing against WCU.  All it did was ensure the four guys didn't get hurt; ultimatley putting them out for the year.  TOB did them a favor.

bla bla bla

But was there not a punishment?  end of story.

Where is Quan's punishment?

Come on ABCers come up with

Come on ABCers come up with a different refrain. Your comments could use some sprucing up. Maybe a creative writing class at UNC would help. For those of you who haven't advanced past 8th grade I could recommend a good tutor.

As Pud says "Yadayadayadayada......."

obviously

we need a tutor, i'll admit to that and all the perks that come along with it.

..glad to see the haters

..glad to see the haters here today..oh wait that's the UNC fans retort to everything...

Can't even respond

These guys commenting don't even deserve a response.  Not to take anything away from Pops, but after reading the posts made over the past couple of months, I am convinced that my father is by far the most intelligent person to ever graduate from NC State.

Wooten, Obsess much?

Wooten, obsess much?

By the way, the "academians"[sic] didn't "decide to open an investigation" into academic fraud.  The NCAA found the evidence of academic fraud while going through emails when they were on campus investigating agent-gate.  The funny thing is that UNC-CHeat fans think that the timing was a coincidence.  Denial can be an ugly thing.       Incidentally, the word you were looking for was "academicians".  You've got to get that right if you're going to take that high and mighty stance from the pedastal that you have tried to put yourself and your university on.

Parade of Morality

When press is bad for your rival, everybody would make themselves look good by kicking off a player whose presence has no outcome on the game. Anybody think Russell would be gone for doing something similar. Possibly? But I guarantee you TOB would think about it a little harder if it did involve his best player.

Anybody really think AJ Greene is the only player at Georgia doing something wrong? How about Wesley Saunders at South Carolina? Or Marcell Dareus at Alabama? The difference there is that those schools got caught with only one player in the wrong and the appropriate response for Head Coaches in big time football is to diffuse the problem and not dig for others. Unlike other schools (Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina anybody who claims to be a football school), UNC's coach does not have more power than the chancellor because they are not big time football. So the academians in Chapel Hill decided to open an investigation on the whole program. As a UNC football fan I hate it, but as an alumnus the Chancellor had little choice.

As bad as it looks for UNC, the right thing is to do the investigation, and pending those findings...the right thing could be to fire Butch Davis. I am actually very happy to have gone to a University that does its homework. Better to do your homework and get rid of and hire the right people than to dare I say....make an emotional decision and hire Debbie Yow or Sidney Lowe? The one hire I would have liked UNC to have dug a little deeper on would have been John Blake I'll admit.

Way to applaud a guy for kicking off a guy whose presence meant jack to his team's success or the University. Every dog has his day though; and for the first time since Phillip Rivers left, it must feel good if you're a State fan. I guess that its bound to happen once every decade or two though...NCAA title with David Thompson in the early 70s (from which they were coming off an NCAA tournament ban the previous year I might add), Valvano in 1983, Phillip Rivers arrives in 2000, and a PR victory for the Pack in 2010 with TOB kicking off Mr. Prime Time Four Snap Performer aka William Beasley. Fortunately for Tarheel fans, we need more than one hand to count the number of times we have been proud of our teams. These grapes are bitter now in 2010 for the Heels, but they've tasted sweeter in Chapel Hill every year of my life than in Raleigh. Enjoy your day in the sun Pack fans...it might not come around for another ten years.

win a tire bowl (home game) and we'll talk

Love it when a tarhole thinks he has to write a thesis to make himself feel better about his sacred program. I sure hate Mac Brown left for higher ground....oh what might have been......<sigh>

haha

you are questioning the hiring of

Debbie Yow (woman)
Sidney Lowe (African American)
John Blake (African American)

sexism and bigotry, double whammy (kidding)

yada yada yada

This is what institutional control looks like.

Institutional control?

Yeah....Like hiring Mary Easely? I am glad that NCSU is the shining beacon of integrity.

..and what sport does she

..and what sport does she coach???  Next time I see you call an ABC'er a hater..I'll remind you of how big a hypocrite you are..YOU are the very reason people hate UNC Wal-Mart fans....

wjolly

Your comment makes no sense at all and if you can't see the parallel then you must be one of the 8th graders I am referring to. Enough said on this subject . Adios, Adieu and goodbye.

I am proud to be an alumnus

I am proud to be an alumnus of a university that expects its student athletes to meet high standards without cheating, and its coaches to teach his players that winning need not come at the cost of one's integrity. the contrast between O'Brien and Davis is like black and white. the shame unc-ch grads who value their degrees must feel must be tough to deal with. hopefully, Davis' replacement will start them on the long road toward restoring their institutional credibility.

Pride

I too, am proud to be an alumnus of a university that expects its student athletes to meet high standards without cheating, and its coaches to teach their players that winning need not come at the cost of one's integrity. Yes, there is a contrast in the personalities between TOB and Coach Davis, thank goodness for that. But as a UNC grad, I value my degree and feel no shame in that. Yes, it appears that some players may have made some poor choices, although exactly what, has yet to be determined. Yes, the disappointment exists becouse some very talented footbal players are not playing, but I believe that the University is dealing with this in the appropriate fashion and there is no shame in that. I will continue to go to the games and pull for whoever is dressed out. Coach Davis is still the coach and I will continue to support him for as long as that is the case. The University has not lost its credibility, it is only being tested. Sorry that you are not getting everything that you want.

surfer

you've already lost this battle when you have to reply to these stupid idiots who really do not believe what they type to begin with.

to justify a degree form UNC-CH is like having to justify why you love your kids or mother/father.

you do not even have to bother.

I am beginning to suspect

I am beginning to suspect that these are not even State graduates or have any fan affiliation with the school. They never comment on the story or its content but use this forum to espouse reactionary statements in order to get a response.

Your right. Not worthy of a response.

All I have to say is....

Nothing.

diddy, aka redpussy!

what?

diddy, aka redpussy!

brillant comment, keep-em comming!

Pssssst!

Y'all listen up. This is what institutional control looks like!

Champion!?

There can only be on champion in anything. Quit being a drama queen, TOB.

gville

you know any good tutors?

This was part of TOB's mantra when he was hired: "Champions on the field, Champions in the Classroom and Champions in the Community".

Also you don't know the definition of "champion".  sure it's someone who is the best, but it is also someone who advocates, promotes and leads something such as: "The NCAA is championing the cause against cheaters".

How dare you?:

How dare you print something negative about NC State, when there's some...stuff...going on down in Chapel Hill that's illegal, immoral, and downright...wrong...to speculate about even though you don't have any actual facts!

I thought Duke was your

I thought Duke was your rival.

If you really believe what you wrote, you are an ignorant fool.  Your players and your administration has already admitted CHeating.
