Boston College fired football coach Jeff Jagodzinski on Wednesday and did not name a new coach.
Jagodzinski, 20-8 in two seasons, led the Eagles to the ACC's Atlantic Division title in 2007 and 2008, had a falling out with a Eagles AD Gene DeFilippo about his commitment to the program.
Jagodzinski interviewed with the New York Jets about their opening. According to the Boston Globe, Jagodzinski wasn't honest with DeFilippo about his dealings with the Jets.
BC is looking for a football coach for the second time in 25 months. Tom O'Brien left BC for N.C. State after the 2006 regular season.
DeFilippo said BC would begin a search for Jagodzinski's replacement. Previous Globe reports stated defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani would be the new coach.

I believe this is the dumbest move..
Wed, 01/07/2009 - 19:25 — UNC1998in a while. How many people here have interviewed for a job without telling are present employer? BC's determined to put their football team into obscurity. They've lost and chased off two quality coaches in 3 years.
Interviews are just Business!
Wed, 01/07/2009 - 19:20 — jeromfitzI can't believe how quickly a two year coach win a winning record gets can for a simple interview by a NFL Team. What is wrong with an interview inquiry from the Jets? It's wrong to threaten a coach for applying for a long life dream to coach in the NFL level. I think that mentality stinks about how colleges are reacting for successful winning seasons.
Interviews are just how you do your business and maybe only a chance to get to another coaching level. This college is acting the laws with Wal-Mart of how we can't work for any other competition in retail sale. Life and employment is very risky business and endangerment to a career status. I prefer for the Boston College AD to mind his business until the coach make a decision with his career.

Wed, 01/07/2009 - 17:45 — tarheelfanblogWe are going to ask Tommy Tuberville, Phil Fulmer, Tommy Bowden and any other halfway decent guys who are just hanging around with no team to coach before we realize we have to promote the assistant which will end badly since we have so many seniors and the recruiting class is ranked 79th by Scout.com.
