Former UNC defensive lineman Marvin Austin's comments on Twitter first drew the attention of NCAA investigators last year as he tweeted about a party in Miami and other good times.
Wednesday, in the aftermath of a Durham Superior Court ruling that denied his former Tar Heels teammate Michael McAdoo an injunction that would have allowed McAdoo to resume playing with the Tar Heels this fall, Austin unleashed a series of tweets on his @anchormanaustin account expressing his frustration and apparently threatening to reveal more about North Carolina's football program and the ongoing NCAA investigation.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the following message was posted on the @anchormanaustin account: "I'm so heated right now...justice will provail..even if I have to spill the beans"
That tweet was followed by eight more posted over the course of Wednesday evening:

Really?
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 22:00 — Heels20You're going to cite PackPride, but discredit UNC and their cooperation when Butch isn't even facing such charges? Absolutely love your lack of reasoning skills.
The professor, the honor
Thu, 07/21/2011 - 07:31 — danofncThe professor, the honor court, Baddour, Thorp, and some high-priced (if he actually paid them) lawyers all had that paper in their hands prior to that lawsuit being filed.
The first place that caught the plagiarism was.....Pack Pride. Well, the first place that caught it and actually said something about it.
"Lack of reasoning" is the ONLY way to look at UNC's situation and think that Butch didn't know anything about anything, which I think is your stance, right?
UNC is so cooperative that they are letting Butch redact his own phone records. I can't wait to see how many people he considers high-profile and uninvolved.
Putting words in my mouth
Thu, 07/21/2011 - 11:39 — Heels20My argument is not that Butch didn't know. My argument is that there is no proof. You really do have trouble with reading comprehension.
So dense...
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 23:23 — mad_maxSince when has PackPride owned Twitter?
http://twitter.com/#!/ArmstrongWTVD
I "cited" what a local sports journalist is claiming on Twitter. And I discredit UNC's comments on the investigation because they have released false statements on multiple occasions already. You are the one exhibiting a lack of reasoning here. Really, you're just making stuff up and discrediting what a sports reporter is saying by trying to label it as a message board rumor.
Regardless of your ridiclous response to the 216 issue, if UNC really has cooperated so greatly, then we will definitely hear about it from the NCAA once this thing wraps up. If we hear nothing of the sort, then we will know for sure that it was just another company line that you guys treated as the gospel. Proof will be in the pudding.
?
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 23:40 — Heels20Wasn't referring to your comment about Armstrong. Danofnc has essentially been blowing Pack Pride throughout this thread.
Still don't see how you draw anything from Armstrong as damning. This is about the records being released to the public. The NCAA knows what the NCAA knows. Anything outside of that may sound like it might be bad, but again, that's speculation.
Ah
Thu, 07/21/2011 - 01:17 — mad_maxMy bad. Thought that was a reply to my comment.
A couple things
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 20:19 — mad_maxGetting tired of scrolling so much just to find the right comment to reply to, but just to set the record straight here....
1) The NCAA has NOT said anything about UNC cooperating. All of that talk has come from UNC. We don't know what the NCAA is thinking right at the moment, because they aren't saying anything at all. What we do know, is that UNC has released multiple statements throughout this investigation which turned out to be false. Next Friday, gag order, McAdoo's paper reflected his ideas exclusively? I'll provide links/quotes if need be.
2) For those folks with their head in the sand that keep claiming the 216 number is a lunatic fringe conspiracy: According to Mark Armstrong of WTVD, UNC will finally be releasing the 216 records, but after Butch is finished "personally going over them". If you can't see how suspicious this looks, then you deserve to sink with the ship.
actually
Thu, 07/21/2011 - 00:06 — izzykareemWhat UNC did, and what i feel a tinge of sadness for McAdoo for, was the way they willy-nilly started offering up sacrificial athletes on the altar of the NCAA trying to appease the wrath that is coming on 10/28. They kicked Marvin out of school, but that was ONLY so that the NCAA couldn't question him and hence, they threw out the $13K in illegal benefits as if they fully investigated that; they didn't even get a Swahili paper properly investigated. The truth is that we don't know how much he's been getting and with his high school coach greasing the skids, what is becoming clear is that UNC was paying to get athletes in school. I know, I know tarhole fans, and don't worry, i don't care what you think or if it sounds unreasoned to you or if everyone else is doing it or you're gonna catch me spreading "false information."
That's what they think is cooperating. In actuality, they didn't really investigate all that much and we know they sure as hell weren't checking papers. They bumbled it. See, they've been operating with "privileges" from the local media for decades. Where they stumbled was when an actual outside body like the NCAA comes in and being the virgin, un-seasoned cheaters that they are, they panicked. It's so sad that local media people catch the brunt of all the tard tarhole fans but that's only because these lunatic fringe fans don't know what its like to sit under a lamp of scrutiny for once and have the rug lifted up and the shades pulled back. Alllll that dirty laundry out there. The easy A courses. Tyler Hansbrough taking Swahili. And yes, this stuff goes on in other places, maybe even NCSU, but guess what girls: we're not under investgation.

Tue, 07/19/2011 - 12:49 — izzykareemSwahili 403 had such a dedicated fact checker as you and PackPride, Carrboro Community College may only have had 8 cases of Major Infractions
which ones?
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 12:46 — izzykareemseriously.
Why on earth would I run away from the likes of you guys? You're just delusional msg board trash-talkers trying to put your finger into every crack in the dike; you guys ran out of fingers a long time ago. I grew up with UNC fans just like you, i can take it.
Quite a few
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 13:11 — Heels20However, max, maybe we should be fair and list UNC along with all the other schools currently goin thru issues:
OSU (regularly plays for National Championships)
USC (kind of old-hat now, but also is usually in the NC talk)
Oregon (flirting with NC almost every year now)
45 of 67 BCS schools have faced major violations since '87. You try to limit it to just a few. Heaven forbid you mention WVU or GT.
You constantly refer to these being "major" violations, but any time someone brings up that it's more about the significance of the violations rather than the number, you get really quiet.
And, of course, you are still in denial about the PEDs. Wasn't an asthma inhaler, bud. Were they just smoking pot and using ephedrine to help duirng exam time? I guess in your mind, the answer is "yes."
wow
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 14:48 — izzykareemI was just doing some trash-talking, didn't know I had to detail every case of infractions since 1987. Why did you highlight "max". I didn't mean, as if you seem to understand, that those were the "max" violations. I was simply getting the attention of "mad_max" who i was replying to and shortened his name to "max".
when i posted that, the GT news wasn't even known yet, nor was the WVU news. You don't understand, if u want to have a factual conversation I can do that, but mostly im hear to poke a stick at the UNC fan ego, that's all, get a few digs in here and there, that's all, and its more to entertain my fellow wolfpackers.
PEDS: hahaha
It's not that I'm in denial about it, it's just if there was ANYthing to this story, the NCAA would have already burnt Raleigh to the ground by now. Honestly, do u seriously think the NCAA is giving NCSU preferential treatment? Or maybe you think they missed it? I can't tell you how delusional and silly you guys look who keep trying to make a story out of this ALL BY YOURSELF.
See the luxury that we as NCSU fans have in this whole Carolina Soap Opera is that there is an ACTUAL investigation, there are ACTUAL stories being written about it in the local and national papers. We don't have to hound the NCAA to "look into it". Your brothers in blue over on the UNC Msg Boards are failing at trying to light a fire under that as well.
But by all means, plz continue to get someone to listen to you about the rampant PED problem at NCSU, plz, continue, plz, for me at least, it serves for nonstop facepalms, headshaking, eyerolling and lulz.
I guess you think that's why Butch is 0fer against Toby and all those 2-3 star players that no one wanted but who are now filling up the UNC commit column, remember how last year all the UNC fans were making fun of NCSU on recruiting? I do. And i don't forget. You may not have done it. gvillegatr may not have done it, but all UNC fans will have to pay for the sins of the others and endure msg board smack downs. Believe me, when the shoe is on the other foot, like it is basketball mostly, i realize what's coming, and hopefully i don't make limp-wristed excuses for it.
PEDs and TOB
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 15:01 — Heels20If the PEDs weren't a story, why were they included in the report?
Butch isn't 0-4 against TOB. Before they reached the ACC, Butch was 4-0 against TOB. Again, you give false information.
I'm confused about your recruiting argument. We just pulled in a top 20 recruiting class. Signing day for the 2012 class isn't for another 7 months. Are you really going to try to run your mouth about that?
Regretting that I took the time to read all of that post. If you're going to write a novel, at least do so in an intellgient manner. Never have a problem with reading JPD's stuff. I commonly butt heads with Max and YAR8, but they are often able to make a rational argument. You, on the other hand, have always seemed to struggle.
sigh
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 10:40 — izzykareemI now know you are so desperate at this point to win an argument...
When the police confiscate anything, and I mean anything on a person, it is catalogued, so that if something is missing, there is a record of what the police did/didn't take. That's WHY they were included in the report, not because the off-duty officer KNEW they were PEDS. However, the NCAA has seen this police report (because Inside Carolina posters have claimed they called the NCAA and asked them specifically about this to which they said they had) and did not levy any penalties. Like I said, keep burning the midnight oil, its funny to us.
False Information? Only UNC fans (because you are 0fer against TOB as the Head Coach at NCSU), and BC fans (are there any on here?) care about what happened between 97 and 2000. Again, your desperation is telling. What I, as a state fan care about, is what happened(s) when O'Brien is a coach of NCSU.
Yes, you've missed your calling, Swahili 403 needs a dead-eye like yours. And maybe those 300+ other classes at UNC where 92% of students get A's.
Intelligent? You didn't respond about missing the "max" reference. So when you corrected me, you did so, in error; you get an F like McAdoo. What about this delusional and fantastical obsession with PEDS? You shoud be honored I went down to your level and even tried to explain to you why you and others look like buffoons. You guys paint this image of a bunch of tarheel fans in a sound-proof room screaming, i.e. (that means "in other words") no one can hear you and no one cares. Sorry. However, by all means, continue, file motions, make appeals, do some injunction stuff, anything legal sounding.
You also misspelled "tudor" => tuTor.
Still doesn't take long to call you out
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 11:13 — Heels20"And maybe those 300+ other classes at UNC where 92% of students get A's."
Please list 20 other classes at UNC where 92% of the grade distrubution is in then "A" range.
Also, the NCAA isn't going to investigate a program because of the specific incident that occurred. It was ruled that it was an illegal search. And it was an ephedrine capsule, not an inhaler. Nice try.
haha, fodder for laughter
Wed, 07/20/2011 - 23:41 — izzykareemYou've been wrong in all your other call-outs, maybe you'll get lucky if you keep at it, but i doubt it.

Granted, him tweeting this stuff is a long way from a tell-all N&O Interview, but just might make the NCAA a little more curious come 10/28. Maybe not. But we know your football team is a bunch of dirty rats led by the big rat, and no, not "rat face" as you guys so childishly call Shashefski. And the worst team money and influence and "looking the other way" can buy is 0-4 against horrible old TOBY.

Tue, 07/19/2011 - 10:23 — Heels20The sky is red
The real issue
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 13:19 — JPDOhioI can't believe I am saying this, but Marv actually has a point when he says, and I paraphrase, that you have to bend the rules to be an elite. This is the message that is being blasted loud and clear: it is necessary and acceptable to break the rules as long as you don't get caught and, if you do, you have plausible deniability.
I can state with complete conviction that if the department I am running had the number of problems that Butch's program had, I would no longer be running it. Butch has "accepted responsibility", but I have yet to figure out exactly how or if he has been disciplined. No matter how this turns out, I don't see how he can continue to be an effective leader at UNC.
It has just been reported that Jim Tressel received unacceptable ratings on his performance reviews related to compliance in multiple years. Yet, this was obviously ignored by the school's administration until the crap hit the fan and they couldn't avoid dealing with it any more.
My point isn't to debate anyone's guilt or innocence. The process will bear that out. I do believe there is a lack of recognition of how serious this pervasive acceptance of bad behavior has become. In the pursuit of money and national recognition, integrity has been sacrificed. It is not a good trend. I am afraid that if the member institutions of the NCAA don't stop making excuses and protecting their turf, somebody, who may not have their best interests in mind, will impose restrictions on them. Proactive action is needed now.
Two hands
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 20:57 — gvillegatrOn one hand you say Butch cannot be a leader anymore bc of all this mess. But on the other hand, you say without realizing it that Tressel was still a leader through his 2006 bad report where he had two unacceptable remarks. Yet he was still able to lead his team to many Big Televen titles and a few more BCS title games. I think Butch can still lead this team no matter what the naysayers say.
tressel
Tue, 07/19/2011 - 21:35 — JPDOhioI am referring to the period after the violations are made public. Once it was determined that Tressel ignored the rules multiple times over multiple years, he forfeited any claim to being a leader in the true sense of the word. The fact that he won before he got caught is irrelevant.
I get that this issue is not as black and white as I am making it, but I have a real problem with the disconnect between how these guys promote themselves as leaders with integrity while they actively or passively ignore the rules. As you could imagine, the opinions on both sides of the Tressel debate are as contentious as any UNC-State argument.
Me, I am just sick of guys who say one thing and do another.
