ACC Now

Another UNC ring on eBay

Phil Ford, or at least someone selling his ring from the 2000 Final Four, is the latest Tar Heel to turn to eBay for financial support. A ring from UNC's 2005 national championship team was sold for $3,600 in July.

Ford's ring from UNC's trip to the Final Four in 2000, Ford was assistant coach, is up for sale on eBay. The starting bid is $5,000. That's a handsome chunk of change for cubic zirconia.

If the description on the site is accurate, Ford gave the ring to his good friend "Bernard," who cosigned it to a jewelry store in Chapel Hill, where the eBay seller purchased it.

The description also claims "Ford, Jamison and Michael Jordan are the only TarHeel players to win the John Wooden Award as the nation's top player. Carolina is the only school to have three different payers win the Wooden Award."

Two questions:

1) Does Tyler Hansbrough's Wooden Award make the ring more valuable?

2) How good of a friend must "Bernard" be?
