ACC Now

Advantage, UNC?

Bookmark and Share

OMAHA, Neb. — North Carolina is fairly familiar with LSU's rally-prone baseball team, having topped the Tigers already during the College World Series. But UNC coach Mike Fox doesn't really think it makes a difference.

"I don't know if it's an advantage; it might well be a disadvantage,'' he said Wednesday. "You just don't know how that works in this game. I think it's a little bit different in other sports. The momentum is going to all be dictated by that guy on the mound and how our guy starts and how their guy starts. I don't know, if you get into the flow of the game, whether you start thinking about who beat who last time or not. We're both in the same boat here, just trying to stay here out here a little longer."

Freshman Matt Harvey will make his CWS debut on the mound in the 7 p.m. rematch tonight.

The winner advances to play Fresno State, which it must beat twice to advance to the best-of-three championship series. The loser goes home.
