If that was the reason

Are you saying that Carolina didn't care whether they won or lost in the tournament? Do your research, How many teams from the ACC won the NCAA and not the ACC Tournament or at least were in the ACC Championship Game ?  It's a "Big Mo Builder" for sure.  The Sweet 16, the Final Four are all important steps in winning it all.  Things happen doing the season and doing games that change games. But excuses of injury or sickness or foul troubles is something All teams have to play through. You can make an excuse for Carolina if you want. But the fact remains, THEY Lost to a Very good Florida State team. Being a Duke fan I'm glad Carolina lost, But I hate to play Florida State for the 3rd time. Would rather play Carolina for a 3rd time than Florida State whom we've beaten twice.  Go Duke!!!

Maryland & Duke

Maryland didn't win the ACC Title when they won the NCAAs in 2002, and Duke didn't win the ACC Championship in 1991.

i'm pretty sure

UNC did not win the ACC tourney at least two out of the last three time they won the NCAA title.  if that is the case, you have no point.  move on nerd.

Embarassing Article

I must say that this article is a complete embarassment for the entire N&O and its subscribers. As a long time Tar Heel fan and Chapel Hill graduate how is losing and going home.. "Where we want to be"? Your journalism is an insult to our fanbase!
Roy needs to evaluate his response to losing. His post-game comments conflict with his pregame comments and are an insult to the Conference and the other teams working hard to accomplish a Championship. If, and hopefully, Florida State wins today; Roy sure did belittle their accomlplishment.

Wrong, Mr. Decock

In your comments you said that if Carolina really wanted to win this they would have played Lawson and that Roy Williams had said that. No, that's not what he said. In the pre-game interview broadcast on Raycom, he told the reporter that even if this was the Final Four, Lawson wouldn't have played, because the injury wasn't healed. You unfairly make this assumption based on your own feeling, not on the facts. I say this because it resembles Frank McGuire's decision to pull his starters from the 1959 ACC's (in order to rest up for the "real tourney, the NCAAs) during which they got their brains beat out by State then McGuire's well-rested teams lost in the first round in the NCAAs by 20. It's unfair to make Williams out to be someone of the McGuire ilk when clearly you misrepresented (i.e. lied) about what he actually said.

Actually...

Williams said after the game that there was a “good chance” Lawson could have played if necessary, but Williams “didn’t think it was the right thing to do.”

Don't know what he told Raycom before the game. Only know what he said when it was over.
