MIAMI - With a 34-16 victory over Duke at Land Shark Stadium on Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes ended any hope of the Blue Devils making a bowl game this season.
The Devils (5-6, 3-4 ACC) needed a win to have any hope to become bowl eligible for the first time since 1994.
In case you missed the print edition, today's column looked at home-field advantage in the ACC.
Home, sweet home? Not quite, Tommy Lee, not in this state anyway.
Boston College: The Eagles' 14-10 over Virginia was their first on the road and seventh of the season, which is about three more wins than any without the last name "Flutie" would have sanely predicted before the season began.

There are only eight major Division I teams, out of 120, with either one loss or less. There are 33 teams with either two or three losses.
Thirty-three teams for 17 spots? That helps explain the disparity between my top 25 and the AP top 25, where we have only three teams in common spots (Florida, Alabama and Georgia Tech).
CHAPEL HILL -- Miami has never won at Kenan Stadium. Kendric Burney made sure it stayed that way on Saturday.
Burney's three interceptions, including two returns that resulted in a touchdown, led North Carolina to a 33-24 win over No. 12 Miami. The win, UNC's third straight and seventh of the season, makes the Tar Heels (7-3) bowl eligible for a second straight season.

Clemson: At 1-2 in the ACC, it looked like the Clemson had promoted the doltish gym teacher (Dabo Swinney) from "Glee," which qualified as only a slight upgrade from the prodigal son (Tommy Bowden) from "Dynasty."

I'm not punishing Boise State (5) for a relatively close call (45-35) against Louisiana Tech, rather Texas Christian (4) jumped a spot because of Oregon's loss and Clemson's climb in the ACC standings.
Saturday's game between UNC and Miami will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and be televised regionally by ABC.
UNC (6-3) needs one more win to qualify for a bowl game. The Tar Heels have won two straight against Miami, UNC coach Butch Davis' former team.
