DURHAM -- It wasn't the zone part of the equation that eluded Radford, but the defense.
Duke shredded the Highlanders' ill-advised zone with 18 3-pointers in a 104-67 romp in Saturday's untelevised game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
MIAMI - With a 34-16 victory over Duke at Land Shark Stadium on Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes ended any hope of the Blue Devils making a bowl game this season.
The Devils (5-6, 3-4 ACC) needed a win to have any hope to become bowl eligible for the first time since 1994.
In case you missed the print edition, today's column looked at home-field advantage in the ACC.
Home, sweet home? Not quite, Tommy Lee, not in this state anyway.

Duke will face a familiar foe in the NIT Season Tipoff semifinals on Nov. 25 in New York - and it's not just Herb Sendek.
With a 52-49 defeat of Texas Christian on Tuesday that ended long after midnight on the East Coast, Arizona State advanced to the meeting with Duke. Sendek, the former N.C. State coach, credited an ex-Duke player with carrying Arizona State against TCU.
DURHAM – Nolan Smith was brilliant.
Duke was, too.
Charlotte never had a chance as Smith celebrated his season debut with a career-high 24 points in a 101-59 rout at the hands of the ninth-ranked Blue Devils in the second round of the NIT Season Tipoff at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Now it's time to see what Duke can do with all three of its best players in the lineup.
Forward Kyle Singler and guard Jon Scheyer have steadied the
ninth-ranked Blue Devils in their first two games while guard Nolan
Smith served a two-game NCAA suspension for playing in unsanctioned
summer league games.
DURHAM — Duke guard Mitchell Lederman and backup quarterback Sean Renfree will miss the rest of the season because of injuries, the team announced this afternoon.
Lederman, a 6-foot-7, 305-pound redshirt junior, suffered a fractured toe on his right foot during the Blue Devils' Nov. 7 game against North Carolina.
Boston College: The Eagles' 14-10 over Virginia was their first on the road and seventh of the season, which is about three more wins than any without the last name "Flutie" would have sanely predicted before the season began.
DURHAM - No. 7 Georgia Tech defeated Duke 49-10 on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (10-1, 7-1), bolstered by the ACC's top rushing offense, rolled on the ground and in the air against the Blue Devils (5-5, 3-3), spoiling the afternoon for the home crowd of 25,899.
The loss places Duke in a must-win situation headed into next week's game against Miami if the Devils hold out any hope of becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 1994.
